Photos from this year's coverage of the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Motorsport.com!
Exploring the beaches of D-Day along the coast of Normandy, France just days before the anniversary of "The Longest Day"
Back in 2000, I had the opportunity to travel to the Australian Outback with CBS. Our crew spent a week sleeping under millions of stars with bats flying over us. We ate kangaroo and drank water straight from the Earth. This series which was 5 parts, earned our crew an Emmy.
I've entered this portrait of my friend and team mate Matt Bishop into the "Your Shot" weekly contest on National Geographic. This image is one of my favorites, recently shot at the 24 Hours at Daytona. Matt is the Crew Chief for Extreme Speed Motorsports and here we are about 3 hours from the big win that weekend. The crew had zero sleep and were exhausted but performed flawlessly in the final hours helping to bring the #2 Tequila Patron ESM car a first place finish.
Wandering around the city center of Le Mans is a therapeutic experience. Narrow streets, sidewalk cafes and medieval architecture are a few things that come to mind. Here's a nice little hidden alley, when the rain wasn't an issue and the light was just right. This image is now available for print, click here.
Situated along the Moselle River that winds through Rhineland-Palatinate, the small town of Cochem resembles a scene taken from a fairytale. Many water front towns populate the shores of this river but out of the ones I came across this was my absolute favorite. People have lived here since Roman times, and you will find a medieval castle situated on a hill over looking the city. (You'll see that in another image coming soon). Bahrain is a small island in the Persian Gulf just off the coast of Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. I traveled here in 2015 for the World Endurance Championship and during my off time found this wonderful tree located in the center of desert island. It is situated among oil refineries in scene that could come from a Mad Max film. The 32 foot tall, 400 year old tree is the only sign of life for miles in all directions! Prints of this image can be purchased here!
Recently on a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, I visited the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. The pyramid here called El Castillo was extremely difficult to photograph with out the hoards of tourists getting in the way. After waiting for the right moment, I got a clear shot! This image is available in the 'Prints for purchase' section. A collection of stock video clips from Chichen Itza are coming soon as well.
Since 2015 I have been producing "Inside WEC" for Motorsport.com. The WEC is the World Endurance Championship and has been an amazing experience covering. On this web series, I filmed, edited, conducted interviews and even wrote the scripts along with Chief Editor - Charles Bradley and writer Nick De Groot of Motorsport.com. Here's the latest episode as we get closer to another phenomenal season.
Watch and enjoy this 7 minute short film on Tequila Patron ESM's historic victory at the 2016 Rolex 24 at Daytona, America's premiere endurance race. Filmed and edited by yours truly on a Canon C-100, Canon EOS 6D, DJI Osmo & DJi Phantom 3.
Former pro surfer and South Florida firefighter, Ron Keindl lights up a South Beach right hander on the swell of the year so far! I shot this image around 11:30 am, which is a nice time to get the Caribbean looking Miami blue water to really show through the waves.
