Motorsport Network's Miami-based video crew wins prestigious industry awards for 'Motorsport Report' news show, and in branded content category for Tag Heuer video series 'Inside Formula E'.
Miami, Fla.– June 13, 201 – Motorsport.tv, the flagship television channel and OTT platform of the motorsport and automotive titan Motorsport Network, is pleased to announce that its Motorsport Report program has received several distinctions in the 39th Annual Telly Awards.
The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens and are judged by leaders from video platforms, television and streaming networks, agencies and production companies.
Motorsport Report, which brings viewers the most important racing news stories of each day, has been awarded and recognized for its content quality and production value in the "general news", "general sports" and "general automotive" for television categories.
The program is produced in Motorsport Network's Miami headquarters by a team comprised of media veterans including Emmy-winner Robert Lyon, Senior Director of Video Production & Publishing, and host Julia Piquet, whose vast knowledge and insight in the sport and industry is contributed to by her legacy.
Julia's father, three-time World Champion Nelson Piquet, has been ranked among the greatest Formula 1 racers in various motorsport polls, and her brother Nelson Piquet Jr. is a former FIA Formula E champion.

This week I produced a collection of macro videos to promote Giorgio Piola Timepieces. These videos were filmed at the Motorsport Network sutdio with the Canon EOS C-500 using the Canon 100mm macro lens and a motorized slider.
This week I travelled to Indianapolis Motor Speedway one week before the Indy500 to interview Pietro Fittipaldi. Pietro was injured in a serious crash at Spa-Francorchamps, Belguim recently while racing in the World Endurance Championship. We "dodged a bullet" here in Miami as Hurricane Irma took a path up the Gulf coast of Florida, resulting in Category 1 winds here locally. Being stuck at home with a view of the storm, I found a protected terrace and filmed during different moments of the storm. May 16th, 2017, Miami, FL. – Motorsport.com’s digital production team has scored three major awards for its coverage of international motorsport for the second year in a row.
The Miami-based production team was presented with three awards at the 38th Annual Telly Awards Show. Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honors outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.
Led by seven-time Emmy award-winning Senior Director, Robert Lyon; Motorsport.com-produced a second season of “Inside WEC” in 2016 – a highly acclaimed race recap series surrounding the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
The video team, which includes Motorsport.com’s editor-in-chief Charles Bradley, earned a Bronze Telly Award in the Video Series category.
“Inside WEC” took viewers inside the world of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) featuring post-race recaps, driver interviews and highlights for each 2016 WEC event.
“Sidetracked with Derek D” is a behind-the-scenes look into some of the world’s best motorsport events, showcasing what goes on and off the track. Host Derek D took Motorsport TV viewers to the Race of Champions in Miami and the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2017, earning a Bronze Telly Award in the General sports category.
The program aired on Motorsport.tv’s over the air channel in North America and England. “Sidetracked with Derek D” is produced by the Miami based production team of Director, Robert Lyon; Producer Nicholas Pineiro and Motorsport.com Editor-in-Chief, Charles Bradley.
The three Telly Awards adds to Motorsport.com’s portfolio of recognition after also winning two esteemed Tellys in 2016.

The new and exclusive original series “Sidetracked with Derek D” will premiere on Motorsport.tv this weekend, as the actor and comedian goes behind-the-scenes at the iconic 12 Hours of Sebring.
Directed by Motorsport Network’s Emmy and Telly award winning producer Robert Lyon, the show will look at what happens both on and off the track at several races throughout the year.
For the first episode Derek D, who previously hosted the hit show Fast Lane Daily, conducts interviews, interacts with fans and takes in depth look at the teams and drivers at the 65th running of the Sebring 12 Hours.
The show will air this Saturday at 14:15 GMT on Sky and Virgin Media for UK viewers and 15:20 ET on YIP TV and Sling in the USA. It will also be available on Motorsport.tv’s Internet TV service.

I'm happy to announce the launch of Sidetracked with Derek D on Motorsport TV! Sidetracked features host Derek D who most may know from his popular Youtube series called "Fast Lane Daily". I reached out to Derek and asked him to host a new concept for the new Motorsport TV platform and television network of the same name. (Formerly MotorsTV).
In this pilot episode we turned Derek D loose at the Race of Champions in Miami, Florida. We took in the sights and sounds plus interview mega celebrity drivers like Sebastian Vettel, Kurt Busch and Tony Kanaan. This was one of the most fun projects in my lifetime. A chance to see hear and meet KISS on their farewell tour in 2000. We all know KISS is actually still together but this was the last time the 4 original members played live ever again. That's with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Chriss and Ace Frehley. This piece won an Emmy Award and was produced by a dream team of CBS crew consisting of reporter Michele Gillen, Chief Photog Fabio Jafet and edited by Shane McLafferty.

The famous sports car endurance race featured 55 cars and coincidentally this was the 55th running. An exciting event which saw the return of Cadillac to sports car racing in the new era of Daytona Prototype International. Filmed on the Canon EOS C-500 and the DJI Osmo for steady shots.
